Case Studies
Today's internet applications and web sites often have to meet the needs
of several groups of users, each with their own specific needs, e.g.:
- For the general public - access to background information about your organisation.
- For your staff - secure access to internal operational information, such as internal project documents, contact
details, news, etc, but also access to documents and other information shared by strategic partners.
- For your stratagic partners - secure access to shared information, such as project documents and staff contact details.
- For your project teams and communities of practice - secure access to collaboration areas.
- For your site managers and IT staff - secure access to system management and reporting tools.
Meeting these needs through a seamless combination of knowledge management,
content management and resource management techniques is our main area of activity.
The following case studies demonstrate some of the key areas of functionality
we build into our solutions:
- Knowledge management facilities such as support for communities of practice
and networking within organisations.
- Content management facilities allowing the creation of new web pages containing
editorial content.
- Resource management facilities to classify and record metadata about electronic
and non-electronic documents and to allow relationships between them to be expressed.
- Workflow facilities, such as periodic reviews (to ensure content remains "fresh"),
timed release of embargoed information, scheduled archiving and peer-reviews to ensure quality.
Many of the case studies also rely on our own infrastructure technologies to provide:
- Powerful search facilities, including federated searching – to deliver information
to users based on its content and context.
- Interoperability – to exchange information with other systems.
- Wizards – to guide users through multi-step tasks.
- Authentication, including single sign-on – to allow users to access multiple
sites with a single set of credentials.
- Authorisation and access control – to control the release of information to
users.
